The ensemble composition METAMORPHOSIS for 14 players is available on YouTube

András Gábor Virágh has composed ‘Metamorphosis for 14 players’, a three-movements chamber ensemble composition, for the request of Warsaw Autumn, a renowned international festival of contemporary music, which is about to commemorate its 60th anniversary this year. Metamorphosis, as used in the title of the composition, refers to the main motif of four notes that are played by the brass instruments for the first time. This main motif, however, recurs in various other forms adopted to the unique characteristics of each musical instrument used in the musical piece. Although each movement is built on a dissimilar underlying character, the use of the main motif has adequate power to forge even the most distant musical ideas together.
